The Volleyball Referees Association of Athens and Eastern Attica (in greek SY.D.PE.-A.A.A.) was founded (under the name SY.D.PE. Attica) in 1966. It is a founding member of the Greek Volleyball Referees Federation (O.D.V.E.). Members of the Association have served and are serving today many of the most prominent Greek volleyball referees. Today it has about 120 active and 20 non-active referees, of whom 10 international, while several of the non-active referees are refereeing observers and are staffing refereeing committees in national and local level.
